Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a sticky situation, whether it’s stuck on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, chewing gum eventually transforms into a black smudge on concrete. But before that happens, pedestrians and clients coming into a store or office will step on it and track it in all over your carpets and entryway mats. Then it is embedded deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for someone to step in it again, to track it somewhere else in your building.
We are proud to provide gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Baltimore MD. Find more information on our methods below:
The best methods of removing chewing gum from concrete depends on how long the gum has been stuck there and the level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we are sometimes able to remove it by covering it with ice until the gum freezes, then scraping it off with a metal putty knife.
The ice forces the gum to freeze into a more forgiving substance compared to a gooey and sticky glob. Once that happens, we slide a putty knife or scraper under the gum residue. After that we move the scraper very slowly under the gum and the entire piece should then peel right off of the concrete.
The above method is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is already smashed deep down into the concrete, we use a hot water pressure washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees in order to melt the chewing gum. For this type of gum removal service, we don’t use very high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our pressure washers never uses more pressure than necessary to clean concrete. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than most people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can need up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal service.
To remove gum from sidewalks and other commercial surfaces we use specially designed hot water pressure washing equipment and professional-grade soaps and detergents that enable us to effectively clean the surface without leading to any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we safely remove gum and surface dirt all while protecting the surface. Our service will also destroy bacteria and viruses that sometimes found in gum on concrete.
